Then every time we had correspondence or signed a contract or saw something we liked in a magazine, we put it in our binder. It actually helped us at the reception too. We had copies of everything, including our music CD's since we had a small problem arise at the reception. We asked the band to play music from a CD for our entrances and they misplaced the one we gave them a week before! No problem, we just had them use ours.
We brought the binder with us for all wedding related activities. From food tastings to picking our floral designs, etc. It was very helpful to have all the information in one place so that we can show our vendors what we were looking for.
If you decide to make up a binder, don't forget to name your wedding or have a theme. Ours was "The Castle Wedding" since we were married at Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown, NY. :) We designed out invitations, programs and menus around our themed name too. Have fun with it and really enjoy the planning time. It can be very stressful but it's very rewarding when it's over. We just wish it didn't go by so quickly on the day of the wedding!

Buzz Marketing For Wedding Planners
Wedding Planner Buzz Marketing - Videos
With more and more internet users having broadband access, web videos are becoming more and more popular. Take advantage of this, if you have a website for your wedding planning business (which you should), think about some video footage you could add to it.
A simple idea is to get some video footage of the bride and groom explain how great of a wedding planner you are. Think of this as your own little endorsement. Ask the wedding videographer if they would mind recording it for you. This is a good idea because, if you let them know what you will be doing with the video footage, they can format it for you. This will save you time and headaches. In return for the footage, suggest they add there logo and website at the end of the clip. Let them know that you will also add their company website to your links page.
If there isn't a videographer at the wedding, you can always record your own messages. Be sure to use a digital video camera, it will make editing the footage much easier.
Another idea is to create a montage video with footage of various weddings you planned. See if you can contact videographers from past wedding and ask for footage.
The last and most novel idea is to make your self into a reality star. There are loads of wedding planner shows on TV now, why not make your own? Hire a videographer to create a documentary of one of your weddings. It may be a little pricey, but could be well worth it. You could also work some deal out with the videographer such making them your recommended videographer for all you weddings.

The Wedding Day (Same Day) Edit

Creative Video Editing knows you don't want to wait weeks for your wedding film to be edited in high quality digital footage, so we have gone the extra step! As of 2008, we now offer one of the most amazing additions to your reception, The Wedding Day Edit!
The Wedding Day Edit (or same day edit) is a combination of filming and editing that is shot prior to the wedding day (at any time) and combined with footage shot on the wedding day itself. Your guests will be amazed at the edit we produce for you because it is actual footage from only hours earlier!
The Wedding Day Edit is possible because of the newest technology and the creativity of the camera operators and editors. Not only will your guests be floored by the same day footage, but you can even order this same day edit to be duplicated right at your reception for us to hand out as favors too. We also offer iPhone/iPod movies and will make your same day edit available to you before you even leave for your Honeymoon or online to family members who were not able to make your wedding.
Creative Video Editing offers Wedding Day Edits in lieu of full post production wedding films as well. Of course some people want both (Wedding Day Edit and a Full Length Feature Film) completed. Keep in mind that a Wedding Day Edit still allows you to buy a longer, full length film later on as well.
Give us a call to set up an appointment to review your Wedding Day Edit options. Our same day edit packages are all-inclusive. We'll even provide the projection screen and audio. Add a Wedding Day Edit to your full length package for only $1,495 or order JUST a wedding day edit only package for $2,995. We can always edit your full length feature film later on.
The Wedding Day Edit is often described as "the best part of the reception".

A Custom Photo Montage

Creative Video Editing offers our custom photo montages with our Platinum Package and higher. When putting together a photo montage, it takes an enormous amount of time to make everything look great. For example, see the following before and after pictures.

NOTE:
The image on the Left is the
original image submitted to us from Danielle. The image below is the result of about 15 minutes of touch up work. We fixed the colors of the picture to make it look much better, removed a lot of the dust in the picture, cleaned up the old photo, and removed spots and blemish to blend in the photo.
When Danielle and Peter booked us, they had asked if we can add in some of their own footage to their photo montage from their proposal as well. Well it came out great! Here is what they had to say after watching it:
"Hi Michael, that was so great. I really loved it!!! You did a wonderful job. It brought tears to my eyes.... I haven't seen it (the proposal) in a while and that definitely got the tears going. Thank you so much for a fantastic job. I can't say that enough...." -Regards, Danielle
Our Photo Montages can be customized in any way and we usually deliver the final product to our customers prior to the wedding day too! The earlier you get your photos to us, the faster we can get it done for you. Contact us to book your wedding or photo montage today!

How to Choose a Wedding Videographer
There are many things to look for in a wedding videographer but the critical factor is experience. Wedding videos are a specialist product and you need someone who understands the genre inside and out.
Here is an important point: It is quite common for people starting out in the video production business to begin by making wedding videos because they mistakenly see weddings as an easy way to get started. To make matters worse, once videographers become competent they often realize they can make more money doing other work. The result is that in some areas wedding videography is disproportionately serviced by inexperienced people.
However this just means you need to be careful — there are still plenty of excellent videographers who do weddings for genuine reasons. The key is to find out about their experience.
Ask For Demos
You must ask to see a demonstration tape of the videographer's previous work. There is no reason for them not to supply a demo — if they say they can't for privacy or other reasons, cross them off your list.
Ideally you should see a range of work from them, but also make sure you watch an entire video from start to finish. You want to know that they can cover the whole event well, not just get a few nice shots here and there. You might also like to ask for references from previous customers.
Communication Skills
The videographer should be able to get on with people and communicate well. Effective communication is important to make the day run smoothly, as well as making sure that everyone knows what to do and what to expect in relation to the video.
Videographers need to work with both guests and other professionals. If there is a dispute between them and the celebrant or photographer, the quality of the video could be affected.
Style
Different videographers have different styles and you should choose one which you are comfortable with. Common styles include:
- Fly-on-the-wall, reality-TV style
- Documentary, including interviews, voice-overs, etc
- Arty, cinematic styles
Price
Making good wedding videos is an expensive business and professionals need to charge a lot of money to turn a fair profit. You should regard cheap quotes with suspicion.
Professional videography is usually at least as expensive as professional photography. Remembering that most videos require several days of skilled labor with expensive equipment, you can see why good video production costs a lot.
Cameras & Equipment
You might like to ask what type of video camera and other equipment will be used. If you are familiar with video equipment this information might be useful but it's probably not necessary. An average camera in the hands of an expert is better than the most expensive camera operated by an average videographer.
It is definitely worth asking how many cameras will be used. A single camera is not really capable of capturing everything properly and safely. Two cameras will allow for much better shots and significantly reduce the chance of missing something important. A third camera, usually left on a static wide shot, provides even more safety and creative options.
Editing & Final Versions
Editing is very important. Good quality editing will make a huge difference. Ask these questions:
- How long will the final product be?
- Can you have more than one version, e.g. a full version and 15-minute highlights package?
- Do you Have Extras like Bloopers, Bridal and Groom Prep, etc?
- What titles, captions, etc will be included?
- Will the DVD have a title menu?
- What music be added?
Copyright and Extra Copies
Many videographers retain copyright of the finished product, usually so they can charge extra for additional copies. We feel that this is unjustified but you might have no choice. In any case it's important to clarify the situation. Creative Video Editing lets you retain your own copyright and therefore you can make as many copies of your video as you like. We will make copies of the DVD for you at a minimal cost to cover materials.
Last Word
Choose the best videographer you can afford. If necessary, make compromises on expenses for things which won't live as long as the video. It's a decision you won't regret.
