A Look Back at 2008 (Movie Trailers)

Creative Video Editing films had a wonderful 2008. We invested heavily in updating our website, purchasing all new High Definition equipment and added lots of new computers. We also hired a highly talented and award winning editor to assist us in editing our films in a timely manor. Furthering our business plan, we expanded to include promotional videos for wedding vendors and started offering a FREE Movie Trailer online within one week of the wedding! Our legal and corporate work has also expanded in 2008.

We are looking forward to a promising 2009 even with the sour economy. We are filling up our wedding calendar quickly and even booking some weddings into 2011! Imagine watching two TV shows at the very same time on the very same TV without having a picture in picture. Seems like it's on the way by just adjusting the position in which you watch the TV and you can watch a completely different channel! Check out this video I just saw.

Blue Tulip Stores Are Closing! Cash in your gift cards ASAP!

"This Blue Tulip bankruptcy is about to wilt hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gift cards and consumer deposits," Blumenthal said. "Nearly $400,000 worth of gift cards will soon be worthless plastic, and deposits are in danger of vanishing if consumers fail to act now.

"This bankruptcy -- and countless others -- is a sobering reminder to all gift card holders: Use it or lose it. In the state of our economy, time is money. No matter how sound the retailer, consumers must use gift cards promptly. Don't delay on outstanding deposits and cash in your credit."

The Tulip Corporation, a retailer of gifts and entertainment products, including personalized items, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy will close all of its stores by Jan. 31. The bankrupt Blue Tulip has only agreed to honor gift cards, deposits and promotional gift cards through close of business on Jan. 31. Merchandise credits will be honored through Jan. 15.

Blue Tulip's merchandise credits, unredeemed gift cards, deposits and promotional gift cards, estimated at $388,000, may soon be worthless. The company also holds approximately $4,000 in deposits for customized goods. Consumers have only until the end of the month to pay the outstanding balance and claim their items.

Michelle and I thought this was important to send to our clients and future clients. We used Blue Tulip to help design our invitations when we realized that we can do it on our own for half the cost. However, we felt Blue Tulip was a phenomenal store to spark our wedding ideas and are sad to see it close.

Brides Guide: Wedding Book

When we got married in October 2007, we put together a big binder of everything wedding. It helped us stay very organized. We purchased folder dividers for our binder and labeled each one the following:

Brides Needs (ie hair and makeup)
Photo/Video
Music
Florist
Caterer/Venue
Transportation
Ceremony
Reception
Rehearsal Dinner
Honeymoon
Ideas (for dress ideas, any other ideas we saw in magazines)
Other

Then every time we had correspondence or signed a contract or saw something we liked in a magazine, we put it in our binder. It actually helped us at the reception too. We had copies of everything, including our music CD's since we had a small problem arise at the reception. We asked the band to play music from a CD for our entrances and they misplaced the one we gave them a week before! No problem, we just had them use ours.

We brought the binder with us for all wedding related activities. From food tastings to picking our floral designs, etc. It was very helpful to have all the information in one place so that we can show our vendors what we were looking for.

If you decide to make up a binder, don't forget to name your wedding or have a theme. Ours was "The Castle Wedding" since we were married at Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown, NY. :) We designed out invitations, programs and menus around our themed name too. Have fun with it and really enjoy the planning time. It can be very stressful but it's very rewarding when it's over. We just wish it didn't go by so quickly on the day of the wedding!

Wedding Movies

It seems Hollywood loves to make movies about weddings. From Father of The Bride to Wedding Crashers, each year they have a new and funny movie out! This year it's Bride Wars. Both my wife and I really enjoy silly humor like this so I'm sure we're going to love this movie. Being a part of the wedding industry is always a lot of fun! We get to see so much, but we never saw this before! It comes out on January 9th (tomorrow).

Synopsis:

Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson go head-to-head in Bride Wars, a romantic comedy that follows two best-friend brides who find they've scheduled their wedding dates on the same day. 13 Going on 30's Gary Winick directs the 20th Century Fox production.

If you love to dip bread in oil and vinegar, if you love to eat salad with oil and vinegar, or if you just love to cook with oil and vinegar, then you MUST take a visit to Carter & Cavero in Red Bank, NJ!

We came across this store thanks to some family members who told us the same thing. We MUST try it! So we did and we absolutely love it. They sell a huge selection of the best oil from around the world plus a huge selection of vinegars that are phenomenal! Michelle and I purchased two boxes of oil and vinegar to give as presents because we love it so much. It makes a great inexpensive gift to friends and family.

During our recent visit to the store, we sampled an olive oil that was probably the freshest in the state. The olives were picked, pressed and shipped all within the last 5 weeks. Our favorite oilive oil by far is the Nocellara Extra Virgin Oilive Oil. It's a Sicilian olive oil that is so tasty! They bottle it right in front of you, cap it off and even add a "bottled on" date to the label.

The vinegars are fabulous too. We purchased bottles of the pomegranate, strawberry, and apple vinegars among others.

They offer gift baskets for weddings and other events too. It's definitely worth checking out for any of your gift ideas for your Bridesmaids or your family. It might be too expensive for favors in your wedding but for smaller weddings, it might be a perfect favor idea.

The store has been open about 2 years now in Red Bank and the owners are extremely nice and very knowledgeable. They recently launched a website where you can even order all of this online.

If you love oil and vinegar like Michelle and I do, then you have must visit this store next time you are in Red Bank.

The Newlywed Game

I received this email from Embassy Row Productions who produces many well known television shows. I thought our newlyweds might be interested in this!

"I work for Embassy Row Productions (the producers of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire and Power of 10). We are currently casting the newest version of The Newlywed Game for Game Show Network & we will be holding a casting call in Philadelphia on Saturday, January 10, 2009. Bluray Purchase

Since upgrading our whole office to High Definition and Bluray in the beginning of the year, we have been holding out on purchasing a Bluray player. The prices were steep and the selection was limited. However, since the holiday season and the economy has caused many companies to slash prices and so many new players are out, great deals are all over the place for Bluray players. We have seen prices as low as $160 and as high as $600. We recently purchased the Samsung Bluray player from Best buy for $180! A phenomenal price and after hooking it up to our TV, we put the old standard def DVD player in the basement to collect dust.

The new player will play your old movies and new HD movies too. It is compatible with our Bluray discs and can even be hooked up to the internet to download movies from netflix, etc.. I wish we had more time to watch movies now! If you are planning to purchase a DVD player, bring along one of our disc to make sure it is compatible with the player you plan to purchase too.

"ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE VIDEO!!!! the video is just wonderful. We love it so much. we wanted to watch it again and again!! You really captured everything that we would have like to see (and that we missed during the big day)! The music was beautiful and perfectly set. We really liked the bloopers too - there were some cute scenes
that we never would have seen. That was such a nice touch. we are so glad that we went with the HD. We could see all the details and the colors. It just made the video that much more special. The video was really great and it was edited so wonderfully. Thank you so much. We really do love it. It brought back so many great memories since the day flew by.... :)

I really liked how the music would flow in and out and how the voices came over some of the video. It really added to the video. The guys section (Reservious Dogs) was too funny. We could not stop laughing at that. I am so glad that I
found you on the wedding website! It was random but well worth it. You really did a fabulous job.

You kept me calm during the whole day and no one even knew you were there. You really hide behind the scenes and captured so much. A special thank you to Michelle for helping me out in the beginning with walking me through what I should be doing since I had no clue and for helping me get those outside shots (at the reception)that I really wanted.

And finally, thank you for braving the tropical storm to capture all these special moments! It was tough out there in the pouring rain but you actually got the nice outside shots before the rain really came down!

The recommendations have already started! We are going to be having
a viewing of the video for the family. They are going to love it."

Vanessa Joy Promo Shoot

Vanessa Joy Photography is one of those unique companies that sets the standard in wedding photography and Creative Video Editing films has had the pleasure to work with them many times. They produce some of the most beautiful images we have ever seen! So when Vanessa called and hired us to film and edit a new promotional video for her company, we were very excited!

We had a blast and spent about 7 hours filming in New York City with two wedding couples, a professional make-up artist, two photographers, and us! The day started in Bryant Park and from there it was non-stop. Grand Central Station, NYC Public Library, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave, Central Park, the Subway, and Pen Station were some of our filming locations! It was a great day!
